Biography

For almost 25 years, Barry has assisted all constituencies in various bankruptcy and bankruptcy-related matters. For example, he advises small and medium-sized businesses facing difficult financial decisions, including debtors-in-possession in Chapter 11 cases and SubV Chapter 11 cases.

Barry also assists individual clients in eliminating their credit card debt, judgments, medical bills, and other types of debt to help them move forward with their lives without the loss of their most important assets. In counseling both individuals and companies, he is compassionate and without judgment.

Barry has extensive experience in representing Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees in all facets of case administration, including the aggressive prosecution of Article 5 avoidance actions and the liquidation of tangible estate assets such as real property, vehicles, equipment, and inventory.

In addition, Barry has been actively involved in the highly publicized Revel Casino Hotel bankruptcy case. Representing the interests of a tenant, Barry was successful in derailing a proposed sale of the troubled casino that, if approved by the bankruptcy court, would have eviscerated his client’s leasehold rights and caused the loss of $16 million in tenant-fit-out. Defending his client took Barry all the way to the Third Circuit.

Barry is admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts of New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts. He clerked for the Honorable Novalyn L. Winfield and the Honorable William F. Tuohey in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.

Barry and his family live in Montclair, NJ. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling, board games and acting in community theatre. He also desperately wants to be a game show host.
